BHS Living Office
BSH Hausgeräte GmbH is one of the world's leading companies in the sector of home appliances in Europe. BSH aspires to improve the quality of life for people with its exceptional brands including Bosch, Neff and Siemens, high-class products and superior solutions.
This philosophy is not only applied to the manufacture of their products, but also to their own facilities and workspaces. In 2019, BSH embarked upon a re-design of its 900m2 offices in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with the goal of creating a more innovative, collaborative and energy efficient workspace for employees.
To bring this vision to life, Arcadia Lightwear and architectural firm Kragelj teamed up to create a new office and lighting design that would elevate the quality of the workspace by bringing a new freshness to the offices. As part of this brief, a new LED lighting system was planned to replace the existing fluorescent lights and unlock the potential for both energy savings and improved quality of light.
To create a more collaborative space, Kragelj workplace specialists created an open plan concept, keeping the space fluid and airy, but at the same time created a number of break-out areas, meeting cubes and telephone booths, where employees can meet, take phone calls or enjoy a quiet moment. The office furniture and materials were chosen in several different colour palettes, creating a lively atmosphere.
For the general office illumination, the lighting designer chose 26 HOLA fittings from Exenia, large circular LED pendants with diameters of 1.5m, 2m and 3m. Fitted with opal diffusers, these big luminaries were an ideal tool to light the workspaces and give presence to the open work area. DALI dimming was chosen for the luminaires so light levels could be adjusted in different zones of the office, helping to create the desired atmospheres and unlocking even more energy savings.
