St Joseph’s Church

St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church in Dundalk was built in 1892 using Newry granite and has been a central part of life in Dundalk since it opened.  Featuring stunning mosaic tiling throughout the interior, the church is loved by it’s parishioners, who are universally delighted with it’s transformation from a dark, gloomy interior to a vivid inviting space where it’s many attractive architectural details have been brought to life by the new lighting system.
In 2019 Fr Noel Kehoe asked Chroma Lighting to produce proposals for re-lighting the church as he had been impressed by Chroma Lighting’s treatment of Clonard Monastery in Belfast where he had previously served.
Chroma proposed a new lighting installation using Exenia M series luminaires and Bluetooth lighting controls- including shapers and zoom lenses to deliver enhanced focus on the stations of the cross.
The entire church is controlled by Bluetooth, and the track mounted, fully adjustable, dimmable LEDs deliver far more flexibility than the old, bulky, slow to warm up discharge lighting.  Chroma have programmed in a variety of scenes to suit Fr Noel’s requirements and he is delighted with the aesthetic improvements as well as the reduction in running costs and maintenance.
